Lately I have been thinking about the subject of fear. Healthy fear can be a good thing–fear of touching a hot stove can prevent a wound for example. But there is another kind of fear that paralyzes people and keeps them from acting on dreams, opportunities, ventures etc. Many people have such kind of fear. But entrepreneurs, visionaries seem to move out and transform the world around them despite the fear and risk involved in their actions. What causes us to fear? Conversely, what causes us to risk and move on our dreams and aspirations.

I think we fear because we don’t want to take the risk of failing or of not being able to handle the results if they’re less than what we hope for. I think one way to move past it is to think some about the ‘what ifs’ and plan and prepare for them when we can. Once we’ve done that – hopefully taking the step or action will be less frightening because we’ve anticipated the different possibilities of what could happen.

I think that when we think about doing anything that is different from the ordinary or familiar this causes anxiety. The only way that we can step out of the box, is to have faith. We must have faith in our selves that we have thoroughly prepared for the venture. Most important, we must have faith in Christ, that his protection would make us stay the course to victory.

I believe that we should not fear anything on this earth. God created this earth for us to grow and prosper in his name and this is what we should do . We must go by faith in everything we pursue. To diminish the fear we should pray towards what we fear , so that the fear will diminish through Gods mercy that he gives to us There will be no fear if we believe as we sholud believe.

While we should not fear, the fact is that we do. Even people who are willing to risk, have some fear. But the fear does not paralyze them. What is unique to them? For example, in the book of Genesis what caused Abraham to hope against hope when he was getting old and he and Sarah still had no children. He doubted, perhaps even feared that the promise of God could be fulfilled at that point. Genesis 17 says that he even laughed when he looked at his circumstances. Yet Abraham is said to be “the father of faith.” What is unqiue to Abraham’s faith? What caused him to respond by leaving his home land, following God to a “place where I will show you” despite the unknown journey that caused him to fear and even doubt at times?

As I have continued to grow in my faith and truly commit myself to discovering and fulfilling the purpose God has for me, I have had to really release myself from the box of fear that I have lived in for so long. Living in fear is very crippling and keeps you a prisoner within yourself. I am so grateful that when we ask God for help He only asks that we open our hearts to receive what He has for us. I can say in complete confidence that He heard my prayer and delivered me from living a life of fear. I know that I am continually going through a pruning process as God reveals to me those things which have kept me as prisoner. But the difference in me now versus the way I use to be is that I am more confident in my walk with God and so captivated by who He is nothing will cause me to falter from my confidence inknowing that He will make everything as it should be-what a wonderful feeling.

Praise God–I believe God does release us from fear and the vehicle for this release is faith. Truly faith and fear are related–more faith, less fear. I think we do play a part in the release process, opening ourselves to the power of the Spirit who gives life and energy to those things that are pleasing to God. When the presence (i.e. energy and light) of the Holy Spirit takes over we are inspired and empowered to move forward with what we believe because of who we believe in.
